Situation in world
In more than 34 countries are 56 transgene agricultural cultures, mainly in North America,Canada, France, UK.
In USA 70-85% of food contains GMO’s.
GMO is used in a lot of countries, but in some regions it have been banned,for example, in Germany,France,Austria,Greece,Hungary, Luxemburg.
On 13 July 2010, the European Commission issued a recommendation that in future individual states in the EU should be able to ban the growing of specific GMO’s that had been scientifically approved at the EU level. A ban could be justified on cultural, economic or ethical grounds.
The most used modified foods are soy, corn, canola,tomatoes, cherries, melons, cereals, potatoes, sugar beet, etc.
In 1996- 1,7M ha, in 2009-134M ha.
In EU are 6 countries-Spain, The Czech Republic, Portugal, Romania, Poland, Slovakia are producing GMO.
