The theme of this article is the ways how the government plans to fight the fast growing violence, caused by gangs, in Chicago. This is a non-fictional article from the newspaper ‘The Economist’ and its aim is to inform readers about crime rates in Chicago and the way government agencies is planning to combat it. The article has a clear introduction, where the author introduces the main problem - the violence in Chicago - and enquires what can be done about it. The body of the article contains 5 paragraphs, because there is very short conclusion - only 2 sentences in the end of the last paragraph.
The text presages that the most violent weekend in Chicago was April 18th-20th, when there was 36 shootings and 9 deaths. Society is worried what has caused this outburst and what can be done about it, because crime rates in summer tend to grow. Some think that crime is caused by growing economic hardship.
