So in conclusion Steinbeck does a good job in celebrating the courage and dreams of ordinary people but not the honesty of normal people. So what he is saying in a way is that most people are not honest. Almost everyone in this world lies about one thing or another, and I don't think that anyone can say that they have never lied before. Everyone has dreams, most everyone has courage when they really need it, in those do or die situations, and everyone lies.
