Banking clients today need a computer which is hooked up to the Internet, because this allows people to conduct virtually all banking operations at any time, day or night, and from any place in the world. Of 23 banks in Latvia, just only 5 don` t have their own homepage yet.
The stock of distant banking services in Latvia began even before the boom in IT development. Facing demand for distant services, banks offered specialized computer software which could be used to access bank account and conduct various operations. The quick spread and popularity of the Internet however, created opportunities for Internet banking. A full- service Internet bank must allow clients to engage in all kinds of operations with billing, credit card and securities accounts, as well as to access full information about the bank and its services, to receive technical help, and to receive consultations on the banking products that are being used.…
