In the current American society there are between approximately 100 and 140 million guns. Since the beging of man there has been murder, theft, and power struggles. Who is to say that the gun is responsible for this fault of the human species? Gunpowder wasn't invented until thousands of years after the first man/woman. The bottom line is the sale of guns to private citizens should not be banned in the U.S.
For one thing the murder rate seems to drop as more guns are sold. In a policy analysis by David B. Kopel he states that "In the first 30 years of this century, U.S. per capita handgun ownership remained stable, but the homicide rate rose tenfold." I would have to come to the conclusion that man goes through phases of brutality against his fellow man. "Subsequently, between 1937 and 1963, handgun ownership rose by 250 percent, but the homicide rate fell by 35.7 percent. This clearly shows no connection between the sell of firearms increase and a increase in murder rate.…
