Charles Dickens is one of the most popular English novelist who is well known all over the world. He is famous for his rich storytelling and memorable characters. Bleak House was published in March 1852 and is considered as one of his best novels.
In this extract from the novel, Charles Dickens uses the third person narration. The purpose of using the third person narrative is to give an impression like we are observing the action or situation from distance. It helps to describe actions, environment, and characters. The third person narrator speaks in the present tense.
Also, the author uses another type of narration. He uses the first person narration. At the beginning of the extract we can see that he uses the first person plural form “we.” It gives impression that we are a part of the novel, and that we are taking part in this novel.
Also, there are other voices used in the extract. One of the voices is Lady Dedlock’s voice. …
