To conclude - gender, ethnicity and social class are essential in the development of forming one's social identity. It gives us ground to understand our social roles as male and female in the society where we live in. Social identity is formed by above mentioned three assumptions and can be determined by the treatment of the rest of society - where exactly do I stand.
The social identity approach, now one of the most significant theories of group developments and inter-group relations globally, has redefined how we think about group mediated occurrences and has extended its reach well outside the limitations of social psychology. (Hornsey-205)
