Every day from Monday till Friday the greatest part of seven to eighteen years old children go to school. There is a law that says that every child has to go to school from first till ninth form. After finishing the ninth form everyone can decide what to do- continue learning or start working or do something else. Most of people I know have continued learning after the ninth form. Everyone is learning but does somebody want to do it?
As I have heard in many countries students understand the importance of a good and qualitative education. Do Latvians understand this importance? I have learned in the school for eleven years but I have never seen a student who would be very happy that he has to go to school and learn. In other countries like Norway and Sweden students are disciplined because they are conscious that teachers are there only to help not to make them learn and force them to be disciplined. I have never seen a really enthusiastic student here in Latvia. Of course there are many students who like one ore more subjects but no one who is very attentive, hardworking and active all the time. I do not want to believe that there are not enthusiastic students but that is what I have experienced while I am going to school maybe that is because they are not so noticeable as others.…
