Jesus believed himself to be the Messiah. Jews however do not believe this to be true. Jews believe Jesus did not embody the personal qualifications of Messiah. The Jews accused him of blasphemy and ordered for his death.
Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion. Jesus' resurrection was the proof his followers needed to believe and worship him as 'Christ'. Douglas Pratt states in The Phenomenology of a First Encounter that 'As a rule lying at the commencement of a major religion there can be found a messenger or messengers - the bearer of a 'divine' or transcendent message or revelation of some kind'. Christians believe this is Jesus Christ.
The non-biblical and biblical evidence provided proves the existence of Jesus of Nazareth. It also shows evidence, which links Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity to the historical figure Jesus of Nazareth.
