Not only location and type of the beach is important, but the composition too. This is perhaps the most important characteristic. A sandy beach is an attractive beach, but a muddy beach is of relatively little use for tourism. Rocky beach is an attractive for tourists who are looking for something more interesting than just sunbathing, because sunbath on rocks might be really uncomfortable.
Size and nature of the waves are significant for the safely and enjoyment of the tourists in summer. The storm waves tend to be short, steep and rapid with the next wave breaking before the first has completed its backwash. This may make paddling of swimming in the surf zone uncomfortable and even dangerous. …
