The immune system requires complete proteins in order to form antibodies and repair tissue damaged by illness. Complete protein foods include meat, fish, fowl, eggs and meat substitutes. These foods are also good sources of B vitamins and iron. Legumes, when combined with grains also provide complete protein. Examples of legumes include soybeans, lentils, peanuts, peas, and beans. Legumes should be eaten with rice, wheat and other grains to get the same quality protein provided by meat.
The past few years have been the most hopeful period of the AIDS epidemic in West Africa, thanks to new treatments, the life expectancy of a Person infected with HIV has been substantially prolonged and the progression of full blown AIDS has been delayed. Only time will tell if HIV can be treated up to a point where it does not cripple and entire nation.
