Jihad vs. McWorld Essay
In 1992 Benjamin R. Barber predicted that in the near future there will be two possible political figures, where neither will be democratic, the McWorld and Jihad. The first, Jihad, is a retribalization of large swaths of mankind by bloodshed and war. The second, Mcworld, will be corporations such as MTV, Macintosh, and McDonald's, pressing nations into one commercially homogenous global network. The McWorld seems to be the future political figure in lieu of the Jihad.
