I have read an article about microcontrollers from howstuffswork.com. Microcontroller is an electronic device, which can be found in most nowadays electronics. Microwave oven’s LED or LCD screen, printers, refrigerators, phones, dishwashers or even car’s fuel supply system – these all devices (and many others) contain microcontrollers.
Microcontrollers are similar to computers (actually they are computers, only much much smaller), so they have the same basic components. Microcontroller has CPU (Central Processing Unit), which executes programs and does complex binary calculations; ROM (Read Only Memory), where the program stores; RAM (Random Access Memory), which is used when program is running; Inputs and outputs, which signals depend on the program.
