When Ellen came to Korea, she was really motivated, tried to study all the cultural differences and work ethics and adapt to them. She wanted to join and create team building events to be more involved in the team, she even tried to learn Korean language. Ellen has a great experience in consultation and working in different cultural environments. She participated in all the meetings and provided the group with useful information and work order. It was only dismissed because Jack made the team work on different things. Ellen’s only problem was Jack and that the other team members always listened to him , because they were afraid of getting fired. I do not think that she could have avoided the problems entirely, but she could have stated the problem with Jack a bit earlier and tried to explain the problem to Andrew or Jack’s supervisors. In that way maybe the problem would have come to the same point a bit earlier and the project would not be so far behind the schedule.
This case shows that the working environment, cultural differences and communication takes a huge part in successful project management and it can cause a lot of unwanted problems. …
