Andrew Johnson served as the 17th President of the United States from April 15, 1865 to March 3, 1869. He is most known for being the first president to be impeached, but also as the creator of the Reconstruction program after the end of the Civil War.
Early Life
Son of Jacob and Mary McDonough Johnson, Andrew was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 29, 1808.
