That was then, and this is now. Punk has once again become popular, which disappoints TRUE punks. The whole concept of "punk" is to be individual; to be shocking and get noticed. Now, this concept is being slaughtered. The whole idea of it has is defeated. Now, they will play Britney Spears on MTV, then immediately after, will play Metallica. Nothing makes sense anymore. Whatever sells will get played. And if Punk bands get played, they get abandoned by their fanbase, for being a "sellout." Bands like Good Charlotte and Simple Plan are whoring this "punk" image just to sell. It's disgusting, really. Avril Lavigne proclaims her "punk-ness," yet, has no idea who the Sex Pistols are.
In conclusion, music has a huge impact on people. Some turn to it to seek comfort or escape. Others live by it. It changes the wat you think and feel, and is a constantly changing thing. I chose to do this project on rock music in particular because it is one of my favorite genres. It has also always fascinated me by its image, culture, and style.
