CONCLUSION
Government statistics and common sense prove that jobs, income, and education affect the quality of a persons life. The program being initiated in New Bedford provides delinquent teens the opportunity to assemble these necessities. Only a small minority of students are at the root of school violence and juvenile delinquency. The State of Massachusetts has bestowed administrators with the convenience to flush their schools of the problem element. However, the Legislature failed to provide for the expelled student's needs. Expulsion is nothing more than a transparent knee jerk reaction. Denying problem teens the sole mechanism needed to further their lives and become a productive member of society is preposterous.
British novelist Virginia Woolf once stated, in reference to youth and maturity, that "one of the signs of passing youth is the birth of the sense of fellowship with other human beings as we take our place among them". With time, patience, and an understanding of the difficulties facing the inner city youth, juvenile delinquency may eventually be put to an end.…
