This disease can also be extremely dangerous, and lead to hospitalization over time. Acids from the stomach constantly coming on contact with the esophagus can permanently damage it. Also, the acids are horrible on your teeth, causing them to turn a nasty color, and become brittle, over time.
And, once again, this disease usually affects more women than it does men. Unlike anorexia in this case, the person usually knows that their eating habits are abnormal. They feel disgusted with themselves, and their appearance. They may also experience fear, or guilt after they vomit. This behavior is almost always unnecessary, considering the person is usually at their proper weight, they only think that are overweight.
