IPSEC security which has been developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (2003) can provide additional security, since IPSRC is able to solve two of the problems which are outside the province of firewalls (although some firewalls have incorporated them). Host to host authentication and encryption (which prevents sniffers from watching the traffic which goes between machines and recording the data in a form which can then be used to exploit the systems at a later dated. When used properly it can also help to prevent middleman attacks.
It is evident, therefore, that there are a number of factors which need to be taken into account when considering what kind of system would be the most appropriate for an airline. It is apparent, for instance, that the job responsibilities of the workforce are quite diverse and therefore security should be geared towards ensuring that each user only has the degree of access to the system which is actually required. …
