After the end of Gretzy's career, he was given a number of awards and was voted as No. 5 among North American athletes. Only Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown preceded him. In 2002, took on the role as the Executive Director of Team Canada's Olympic Hockey Team and was responsible for putting together Canada's best hockey players for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Under Wayne's management, he led the team to a gold medal victory. It was the first gold medal the men's hockey team had one since 1952 in Helsinki, Finland. Those few days overshadowed the greatness of Wayne Gretzky's career. At the medal ceremony, he received the Olympic Order, which is the highest honor given by the International Olympic Committee, for his "outstanding contributions to the game of hockey." For, this is not the end of The Great One's contributions to the game of hockey... it's just the beginning.…
