Inspection of specified areas or equipments
Anyone who has worked around cranes that are used for lifting heavy loads knows the importance of thorough inspections of cables and sling. Critical parts or items like parts of machinery, equipment, structures or areas can result in a major problem when worn, damaged, abused or misused. Therefore, effective inspections programs make sure that all these parts/ items are identified, evaluated and kept in proper conditions.
Special Inspections
These inspections as the word denotes are specially carried out and is not done on a regular basis. These inspections have to be planned in advance. Plant maps and equipment list are often used in such kind of inspections
Safety Inspection Report
After inspections the safety officer needs to prepare a report of the hazards or conditions found so that remedial action can take place. A scan through previous inspections reports is also helpful in following up a prolonged problem.
