Why Latvian markets are subordinated to these companies? It is not only because of globalization and internationalization, but also because of the fact, that Latvian manufacturers (and growers) are not able to oust these global giants because of monetary shortage. Furthermore, Latvian products, for example, Limpo Limonade are not that popular as, for example, American Pepsi or Coca-Cola. This situation reminds me about situation in technology industry, where in the market are no such strong companies as Microsoft and Apple, who could oust them out of their statuses.
PepsiCo is strong company with its brand and loyal status around the world, but why not to oust them out of Latvian market or at least try to do so? I think, that if all Latvian producers and growers will join into one great organization with several sectors, for example, food (including fruits and vegetables), beverages (including water, coffee, tea, juices), sweets (including sugar production, chocolate production and sweets) and other, then in the future food industry of Latvia will bring profit and maybe will make economic boom. Furthermore there will be huge local oligopoly in Latvian food industry.
