There are two issues I would like to discuss: first is the concept formation and second is measurement validity.
Concept formation – why does it matter? Does it mean interpretation? Andrej Nosko argues that it is move from particular to universal concept. For Adcock & Collier it is moving from background concept to systematized concept. Does it mean the same? As I understood concept formation and conceptualization are the synonyms and it is the first stage of the research. Second stage is operationalization that means moving from systematized concept to selection of indicators. And last stage is scoring - ranking and classification of cases according to indicators. …
