1.How did the relationship between worker and boss change after the Civil War?
People wprked all day tending machines in a large, crowded, noisy room. Machines did much of the work.
2.What were the results of the 1885 strike at the Missouri Pacific Railroad?
The Knights didn't oficially support the strike. Still, workers everywhere saw the strike as a victory for the union.
3. What happened in Haymarket Square when workers clashed with strikebreakers?
Police opened the fire, and 4 workers were killed. The next day, thousands of workers gathered in the Haymarket Square to protest the killings.
4. What were the goials of the AFL?
focused on higher wages, shorter hours, and improved working conditions.
5. What is Mother Jones best knwon for?
The best known women in the labor movement was Irish-born. Spoke publicy
6. Why is the Triangle Shirtwaist Company fire significant in the labor movement?
The company had locked the doors to keep nworkers at their jobs. Shocked enough people other states started safety rules.
7. Why were unions not popular in the U.S. in the late 1800s?
Many were afriad that unions were run by foriegn-born racicals. Were disturbed by stikes.
