Ray Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois to parents Leonard Bradbury and Esther Moberg Bradbury. In 1934, his family moved to Los Angeles where Bradbury began to write stories and poetry. His first sale of work came when the George Burns/Gracie Allen Radio Comedy Show picked up one of his sketches.
During high school he further developed his literary passion when he became interested in theater. After high school he plunged into science-fiction writings, and the rest is history ("Bradbury").
Ray Bradbury is an accomplished American novelist, short-story writer, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and poet. His writing style is like none other. Some say he is a science fiction writer; however, others argue that he merely uses the far-out setting to criticize racism, censorship, technology, nuclear war, and humanistic values.
