Today Demi Moore is as well known for her fabulous figure, daring "Vanity Fair" cover photos, and much-publicized 2000 split from husband Bruce Willis as for her films. However, the husky-voiced actress who rose from a troubled upbringing to stardom has toiled successfully behind the scenes, as a producer of the hits Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) and its sequel Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999).
Moore was born Demetria Guynes in Roswell, New Mexico, on November 11, 1962, to her mother, Virginia, and stepfather, Danny Guyness, a newspaper ad salesman. Her parents' relationship was at times abusive and the family struggled, moving frequently as Danny sought work. When Moore was in her teens, Danny committed suicide.
