Amongst our modern day society there are many confusions regarding aids. Many individuals seem to believe that HIV and aids are the same issue. However, the terms aids refers to an advanced stage of HIV infection, when the immune system has sustained substantial damage. Not everyone who encounters HIV infection is exposed to aids. Few people actually survive five years from the time they are diagnosed with aids, although this is increasing with improvements in treatment techniques.
