Baltic state destinations and Europe destinations
If we are comparing Baltic States as its tourism contribution to GDP then the results are high in certain regions. For example, the highest tourism contribution to GDP is in Estonia where it is 12.7 %, that is the biggest among all Baltic States where in Latvia it is 7.7 % and Lithuania 4.2%. Not even mention the other European countries as Germany where it is only 4.6 %, Sweden with 5.5%, Denmark 6.0%. The big results are shown also in the total working force in the tourism field that in Estonia is 12.4%, again the highest among all Baltic States whereas in Latvia it is 7.3% and in Lithuania it is 4.0%. Other countries as Germany has 4.9% tourism workforce, Sweden has 5.6% and Denmark 11.3%. Anyway, Estonia is the leader among the tourism contribution to GDP and the tourism employment among these countries. (WTTC www.bastis-tourism.info)
Also comparing Baltic States with other European states by cruises and international passengers the leader is Estonia that had almost the same amount of passengers as Portugal capital Lisbon and Swedish capital Stockholm. Ahead of them were Copenhagen and Hamburg. (www.cruiseeurope.com) Comparing flights the highest traffic was in Riga with 65 thousand flights, in Tallin it was 37 thousands and in Lithuania also 37 thousand flights (www.riga-airport.com). Comparing the transfer cities 85% are Tallinn and Vilnius. This means that usually all tourism flights go through Baltic States and they cooperate with each other (RIX Statistics report 2015).
